A Studio, Not a Factory
We have stayed deliberately small: a tight team of front-end specialists who each see projects through from file review to delivery. There is no production line where your design gets sliced by one person, coded by another, and tested by nobody. The developer who studies your PSD on Monday is the one who hands you the staging link on Friday — which is why our builds are consistent and our communication is direct. When you ask a technical question, a developer answers it.
Where We Come From
Our earliest clients were European designers and small agencies — Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Polish — who found us through credit links in the footers of sites we had coded and passed our name along. That heritage shaped two habits that persist today. First, we are comfortable working across languages and character sets, and we stress-test layouts with the long compound words and diacritics that break fragile CSS. Second, we learned early that agencies live and die by their deadlines, so ours are commitments, not estimates.
What We Believe About Code
- Semantics are not optional. HTML that means what it says is the foundation of accessibility, SEO and maintainability — everything else is paint.
- Standards outlive trends. Frameworks rise and fall; the platform endures. We build on the platform, guided by the specifications and the documentation at places like MDN Web Docs.
- The next developer is a client too. Someone will maintain this code after us. We write for that person — clear structure, honest naming, no cleverness that needs a decoder ring.
- Craft scales down, not just up. A one-page build gets the same checklist as a fifty-template theme. Small projects are how trust starts.
How We Work Day to Day
The studio runs on a small number of unglamorous disciplines. Every project gets one responsible developer end to end. Every build passes the same written checklist, whether it is one page or fifty. Every deadline we accept is one we believe, because a missed date costs our client a missed date with their client. And every piece of feedback — especially the uncomfortable kind — gets folded back into the checklist, which is how a process gets better for twelve years without a single reorganization. None of this is innovative. It is just kept.
The Name
The 'loft' is real, or was — the studio began in a converted attic workspace with sloped ceilings and exactly one radiator. The PSD in the name dates us cheerfully: design tools have multiplied since 2014, and we convert from all of them, but the craft the name describes — turning a designer's intent into living code — has not changed at all.
The Industry We Keep Faith With
The design-to-code conversation has been running since long before us, in places like A List Apart and Smashing Magazine, where practitioners argued the standards-based web into existence. We see our work as the unglamorous end of that tradition: not writing the manifestos, just building the way they said we should, project after project.
